Chapter 12

A few days later

Amell

I was doing better and thankful for it. Leah was taking good care of me and I knew I loved the shit out of her. I don’t know what I would have done without her if she hadnt stepped up. I knew her presence around me was making me recover quicker than I would’ve if she wasn’t by my side. I could feel it inside of me how her being with me was affecting me. Still, I was tired of being locked up in this house. My leg was a lot stronger and I could get around reasonably well with the help of this cane. Even though it made me feel like an old ass man, I used it because I wasn’t trying to be wheeled around in no wheelchair like I was somebody’s grandfather. My face was looking better than it did a week and a half ago, that’s for damn sure. I was feeling good about shit. But I was ready to get back out there and get things back under control. I hadn’t been to the club in two weeks, but my boy Shan had been holding shit down for me.

I couldn’t lie and say that what Duke told me hadn’t got me second guessing everything. But there was no way Shan was the one who was working with my enemies. It was damn near impossible. Shan was my nigga. We’d been through so much together, since we were kids. Still, the nagging feeling in the back of my head that I had to at least look him in the face and see his reaction. So while Leah was down in South Miami running an errand with her moms, I told Shan to stop by the house so we could chop it up.

I was sitting out on the porch thinking and waiting for him to get here but I was also thinking about the next move for the business. Seeing Samuel the other day lifted a weight off my shoulder. With Santiago and Mateo dead I wasn’t sure what the fuck was going to happen with the supply. But Samuel told me he was gonna step up and run shit which was fine by me. We decided I’d have the same deal I did with Mateo so as far as my cocaine supply, I was good. All I needed was to plug up these leaks on this side and I would be straight.

The sound of the front door opening made me turn around and I saw Shan walking in my house. He sauntered over and grinned when he saw me. I hadnt seen him in a couple days, last time was when he stopped by on my first day back home.

“What’s good?” I asked as he walked up to me and leaned down to grab my good hand and pat me on the back.

“I’m straight bruh. How you feelin? You looking better,” he said sitting across from me in a patio chair.

“Yeah, I’m feeling good.
